What Ujer accesses

Ujer accesses your microphone only after you explicitly start a dictation session and grant microphone permission. It does not record continuously or in the background.

Audio and transcription

Ujer records temporary audio locally, then sends that audio to the transcription endpoint you configure. Depending on your selected provider, this is an OpenAI-compatible POST /audio/transcriptions endpoint or Deepgram's /listen endpoint. Ujer has no transcription backend of its own.

The configured provider receives the audio and may process or retain it under its own privacy policy and terms. If you use a self-hosted endpoint, its operator controls that processing and retention.

API tokens and settings

Ujer uses the API token you provide to authenticate transcription requests to your configured provider. The token, provider, base URL, and model are stored locally on your device. On Android the token is encrypted with Android Keystore-backed storage; on macOS it is stored in the Keychain. Ujer does not send your token to an Ujer server.

Remote endpoints must use HTTPS, except for loopback endpoints used for local development.

Transcripts and retention

Ujer does not maintain an account, cloud sync, voice history, or transcript history. Its temporary local audio file is deleted after transcription, cancellation, or an error. Transcription providers may retain audio or transcripts according to their own policies.

Ujer places the transcript in the Android clipboard or inserts it into the selected macOS text field. The operating system or another app may retain clipboard or inserted text; that retention is outside Ujer's control.

What Ujer does not collect

Ujer does not collect names, email addresses, contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising data, or analytics. It has no Ujer account system, advertisements, or tracking SDK.

Deleting your information

You can remove your locally stored API token by clearing it in Ujer's settings or uninstalling the app. Temporary audio is deleted automatically as described above. To request deletion of data held by a transcription provider, contact that provider directly.
